Group Financial Controller

Job Summary:

  • The Group Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team. This role involves managing the finance team, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and optimizing financial performance across all business units.

 

Responsibilities:

The Group Financial Controller is a senior leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for group-wide financial governance across multiple subsidiaries within a listed environment. Key requirements include:

Group-Level Financial Oversight

  • Lead group consolidation and statutory reporting across multiple entities
  • Establish and enforce financial controls, policies, and governance standards

 

Functional Leadership

  • Oversight of treasury & banking, credit administration, leasing management
  • Strong command of working capital management, taxation, and accounts payable
  • Ensure disciplined cash flow, funding, and balance sheet management

 

Capital Markets & Bursa Experience

  • Direct experience with Bursa Malaysia reporting and compliance
  • Lead and support fundraising exercises (equity/debt)
  • Engage with analysts, institutional investors, and manage IR-related matters
  • Hands-on knowledge of regulatory requirements for corporate exercises and RPTs

 

Listed-Environment Complexity

  • Proven experience operating in a large, complex listed group
  • Close working knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance frameworks
  • Ability to manage cross-functional and cross-subsidiary stakeholders

 

Leadership & Maturity

  • Capability to lead senior finance teams at group level
  • Strategic judgment beyond operational or project finance
  • Acts as a key advisor to Board, Audit Committee, and senior management

 

Overall Profile Fit:

  • The role requires a finance leader with strong capital markets, governance, and group-level leadership exposure, beyond operational finance, turnaround, or project feasibility expertise.
  • Strong understanding of latest accounting standard, MFRS and updates.
  • Strong understanding of tax planning.
  • Strong interest in property development and always keep abreast of industry development and best practices.
  • Confident, self-motivated, strong leadership, management skill and performance driven.
  • Independent and effective team player who is able to command respect and effectively communicate with management and staff at all levels
  • Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
